What do you need to know about me? 

I am an ex-musician, non-profit advocate, expat of the corporate world, avid runner and eternal student.

I am a sister, friend, daughter and mother of an amazing 12 year-old. It’s all of these things, and a breadth of life experience that make me the type of therapist I am.

I work with clients on an array of issues, but closest to my heart are depression, anxiety, grief and loss. I can relate to them all, and I think this experience brings value to my work with clients.

Why am I a therapist?

As I have said to my son, "Sometimes, in this world, it is hard to be a human – especially if you want to be the best version of yourself possible. And if life is a journey complete with difficulties, why should we have to face them alone?"

That’s my pledge: to walk beside my clients and support them as they explore the people that they truly are and the lives they want to live. Life can be a challenge, but I have learned that I don’t have to navigate it alone. None of us do.

Gestalt Therapy is a relationship-based, client-centered approach to psychotherapy.

Instead of a more hierarchal, top-down approach (ie. the therapist as ‘expert’), therapist and client co-create the relationship together. We focus on the ‘here and now’ and try to understand what is happening in the moment, rather than getting stuck in perceptions of what might be, based on previous experiences.

Focusing on self-awareness, Gestalt therapy is particularly helpful in addressing issues like anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, loss and relationship difficulties. Taking a creative, body-centric approach, Gestalt techniques can be used in combination with body work, dance, art, drama, and other creative therapies that fit.

Through the Gestalt process, we will work to bring negative thought patterns and behaviours into awareness as a way to unblock realizations of true self-awareness and happiness.

While we all may have the skills, ‘fit’ is something equally important – and totally unique. I want to ensure that all my clients have the chance to get to know me – my style, the way I work – before committing to therapy. That’s why I offer an introductory 30-minute consultation.

I make it affordable.

I believe that payment shouldn’t be a barrier to therapy. After the 30-minute consultation, my standard fee is $80.00 per session. In addition, many private/employer insurance carriers are now accepting claims. Please contact me with any questions.

Where we can meet.

My home office is located in Scarborough at Victoria Park and Kingston Road; I also have meeting space at Spadina & Bloor. In the case of some long-distance clients Skype is a viable option. I am happy to come to you, or you can come to me. Whatever works best.

The fine print.

I totally understand that things come up: life happens. If you find you need to cancel a session, no problem, but I require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations.
